NAMAMI GANGE PROGRAMME  

“Namani Gange” Programme was observed in APS Lansdowne on 07 November 2019. Various activities conducted during the programme to achieve the objective and encourage the children and staff members to contribute for rejuvenation and conservation of Ganga.

Vigilance Awareness Week 2019 was observed in APS Lansdowne from 29 October to 04 November 2019. Various activities conducted during the week to encourage the children and staff  members to be more vigilant about ill effects of corruption, are as under :-

MOCK PARLIAMENT

The students of Army Public School, Lansdowne conducted a Mock Parliament on 23rd of Oct 2019 to make the students aware of the functioning of Parliamentary proceeding along with the passing of laws and to prepare the future parliamentarians.

ANNUAL CULTURAL MEET

The school celebrated its 26th Annual Cultural Meet on October 05th , 2019 with traditional pomp & a spirit of festivity. The day marked the celebration of our achievements garnered in the course of the year 2018-19. It was also an opportunity to showcase the talent of our students & felicitate the achievers with the prizes and scholarships. The entire APS family played gracious hosts to all the distinguished guests to share our moment of pride and joy.

The Chief Guest of the event was Hon’ble Chairman Brig A. S Chauhan. Mrs Sunita Chauhan, Senior Director FWO Lansdowne also graced the show with her presence.

After the kindling of the lamp, the Principal, Mr V. D Sundriyal welcomed the dignitaries and presented the Annual Report. This was followed by an amazing group dance performance on “Maiya Yashoda” by our tiny-tots. Then the theatrical presentation on the theme of Annual Cultural Meet “Krishna Leela” was a beautiful journey into the life of Shri Krishna. Thereafter meritorious student were falicitated by the Chief Guest. The Chairman’s trophy was begged by Shradha Gaur, class XII.

The Chief Guest expressed immense happiness on being a part of the Annual Day celebrations and appreciated the efforts put in by the students and their mentors to make the show a success. Finally, the National Anthem was sung & the school Annual Day came to an end.

The event was applauded and appreciated by the audience.

SWACHHATA HI SEVA COMPAIGN 2019

On the occasion of “SWACHHATA HI SEVA COMPAIGN 2019” launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister, our school organized cleanliness derive and Shramdaan to mobilize students, staff and people regarding cleanliness, hygiene, sanitation and no use of plastic on 20 Sep 2019. The programme was started by an oath taking ceremony. Thereafter the rally was organized to the market and nearby areas of the school premises. They cleaned the unhealthy and unhygienic surrounding covered by the plastic wastage and conveyed the message to the society regarding cleanliness.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

73rd Independence Day celebrated in school with a great zeal and patriotic fervor. The variety of programs conducted on the day are as under :-

(i)         Flag hoisting by Chief guest Hon’ble Chairman Sir Brig A S Chauhan.

(ii)        Thereafter series of cultural programs held in school auditorium.

KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS CELEBRATION (22 JULY TO 26 JULY 2019)

“KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS” WAS CELEBRATED IN SCHOOL WITH A GREAT ZEAL AND PATRIOTIC FERVOR. UNDER MENTIONED ACTIVITIES HELD DURING THE WEEK:-

(i)         On 22nd July 2019 School has organized Inter House speech competition. Subhash House secured 1st, Shivaji House secured 2nd, Nehru House secured 3rd  and Tagore House secured 4th place respectively.

(ii)        On 23rd July an audio visual presentation on the relevant topic and motivational speech on Army as a career and facilities provided, delivered by Sub Sarath Singh Aswal from GRRC.

(iii)       On 24th July NCC cadets has organized a parade/ march past under the supervision of NCC, CTO Mr Harendra Singh Rawat.

(iv)       On 25th July class-wise drawing competition on the theme Kargil day.

(v)        On the same day, school choir presented “Kargil Tribute Song” during morning assembly.

(vi)       On 26th July plantation held in nearby areas.

(vii)      On the same day skit was performed on Kargil day by NCC cadets.

INTER SCHOOL DRAWING COMPETITION, ORGANIZED BY GRRC LANSDOWNE, 22 Jun 2019

Inter school Drawing competition has been organized by GRRC Lansdowne on the occasion of International Yoga Day in Surjan Auditorium. APS Lansdowne participated in it. In junior category Hemant Kandari and Manisha Bisht stood Ist  & Anisha got the consolation prize. In senior category Zenab Mansoori Stood IInd.   

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATED ON 21 JUNE 2019 :-

Principal, Teachers and Students practiced Yoga for 1 hour at APS Lansdowne to celebrate 5th INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY which was initiated, pioneered, emphasized and advocated by Honorable Prime Minister of India Sri Narendra Modi ji.

In the morning assembly, speech on respective topic delivered by Pragati Negi, Head Girl. Later in Assembly ground and multipurpose hall, School PETs guided and trained Staff and students, how to do it and educate them about its benefits. NCC cadets also took part in the event enthusiastically. The trainer said that Yoga and meditation keep us physically fit, mentally healthy and spiritually awakened and say no to ailments.

INTER SCHOOL DRAWING COMPETITION, ORGANIZED BY CANTT BOARD LANSDOWNE,

Inter school Drawing competition has been organized by Cantt Board Lansdowne on the occasion of International Yoga Day. APS Lansdowne participated in it and marked presence in junior category, Jatin Bedwal stood Ist. In senior category Hemant Kandari Stood Ist, Khushi Chauhan Stood IInd & Pallavi Joshi Stood IIIrd.

INTER SCHOOL HINDI DEBATE COMPETITION (SENIOR) :-

            Inter school Hindi Debate Competition was organized on 28 May 2019, by LOSA in our school Auditorium. GGIC Lansdowne, Cantt Board High School Lansdowne, Kendriya Vidhyalaya Lansdowne and APS Lansdowne participated in at. Viyakhay Vashisht of Army Pubic School secured 1st place and Khushi Chauhan secured 2nd place in both for and against category.

INTER HOUSE ENGLISH GROUP SINGING (PRIMARY) & HINDI DEVOTIONAL GROUP SINGING (SENIOR) COMPETITION ON 25 MAY 2019 :-

Inter house English Group Singing (Primary) & Hindi Devotional Group Singing (Senior) Competition was organized on 25 May 2019 in school. Eight participants from primary and ten participants form senior has participated from each house. The result of the competition, in primary section, 1st place secured by Shivaji and Nehru house, 2nd place by Subhas house and 3rd place secured by Tagore house. COUNSELLING SESSION BY DR. SANGEETA PAUL BUDHIRAJA ON 22 MAY 2019

A one day workshop on 22 May 2019 was organized by GRRC for students and teachers in school. For girls students the session was about self hygiene. And for teachers it was about Developing Communication Skills.

The session was very interactive and enthralling for students and staff members.

MOTHER’S DAY, CELEBRATED ON 05 MAY 2019 :-

            Inter house Speech Competition was organized on the occasion of Mother’s day. One participated from each house. Result of the competition, 1st Tagore house, 2nd Nehru and 3rd Subhash house.

     

INTER HOUSE WESTERN GROUP DANCE (PRIMARY) & FOLK GROUP DANCE (SENIOR) COMPETITION ON 01 MAY 2019 : –

            Inter house Western Group Dance & Folk Group Dance Competition was organized on 01 May 2019 in school. Eight participants from each house in each category participated in it. Result of the competition in primary section, 1st place secured by Tagore house, 2nd place by Subhash house and 3rd place secured by Nehru house. In senior section, 1st place secured by Nehru house, 2nd place by Subhash house and 3rd place secured by Tagore house.

WORLD EARTH DAY, CELEBRATED ON 22 APR 2019 :-

            World Earth Day celebrated on 22 April 2019 in school. Various competitions such as Essay writing, Face painting and Drawing were organized on this day. Result of the competition, 1st Tagore house, 2nd Subhash house and 3rd Shivaji house in essay writing, 1st Shivaji house, 2nd Tagore house and 3rd Subhash house in Face painting competition.

Blue Whale Challenge: Awareness programme for school kids on dangers of online game

An awareness programme for school students on the dangerous impact of the blue whale game was conducted  on 13 Oct 2018 by school. It was a an awareness  cum instructional program anchored by Mrs Shweta Kathait.  She   guided the parents to monitor the children closely and inform the school  if they felt the children were isolating themselves and were much absent minded. Students were  also warned  against downloading and playing the game . The  program  was attended by a large number of parents and guardians.

A workshop cum Consultation Session to help operationalise POCSO & Vishakha Guidelines:-

A  workshop cum Consultation Session to help operationalise POCSO ( Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) and Vishakha Guidelines within school  was held on 04 Dec 2018 in school for teachers. The enlightening workshop was anchored  by Maj Ketan Gokhle  and orgnised by GRRC. The thrust of the session  was to raise awareness amongst schools and students about the POCSO Act. As per CBSE guidelines, all affiliated schools need to adhere to the guidelines specified in the POSCO Act, to prevent sexual exploitation in schools.

Cleanliness drive in school

School undertook a cleanliness drive with a spate of activities during the month of September, 2018 as in accordance to the nation-wide Swachh Bharat Cleanliness Campaign launched by Prime Minister on 2nd Oct., 2018. The school chalked out a plan to organize a wide range of events like inter-class and inter-house competitions for the whole month which included skits, debates and speeches etc. A special cleanliness drive was carried out on 26th Sep, 2018 to reverberate to mission of the campaigning. The students took a pledge to clean their school, homes, public places & surroundings. Students were given handy tips to keep their surroundings and school clean.

NATIONAL CADET CORPS

NCC (National Cadet Corps) is a national organization which helps in inculcating in the cadets a spirit of courage, confidence, self- reliance, selfless service, a feeling of patriotism, faith in onself, power of thought and adjustment which are essential to make the youth disciplined and dutiful. The formation of the NCC under the NCC act, 1948 was a major milestone for the development of the student community with its motto of “Unity And Discipline”.

NCC came into existence in our school on 21 Sept 2017. NCC (JD/JW) Army wing of Army Public School Lansdowne is attached to 31 UK Bn NCC Haridwar. In first year 25 cadets are enrolled (17 Boys & 09 Girls).

A session on personal hyegine

Personal hygiene seesion conducted in school on 07 Sep 2017 By Mrs. Deepa Chauhan. She told personal hygiene can be a sensitive subject to bring up to a classroom of students or to your own children. It is important to instill good hygiene practices early on to prevent cavities, infections and other health problems.  On this releveant topic  she told a student must also feel safe discussing this topic with teachers and parents too, especially as they begin to go through puberty. Most teens must change their personal hygiene habits at this point.

Counseling session held

Dr Subhash Chauhan, Professor “The University of Tennessee, Health Science Center, USA”, on 06th Sep 2017 held a career counselling programme for the student community of class X and XI. The programme had been organised in order to make the youngsters aware of the options available for them. He told all youngsters to keep themselves aware about the options open for them for their professional development.  He also told counselling is imperative before for the students before they are about to pass class X and XI.

National sports day celebration:

School celebrated National Sports Day on 29 Aug 2017. It was inaugurated by Dr. Ashok Kumar, Principal. Students participated in various Inter house sporting events volleyball, Basketball and cricket. Later winning trophies awarded to the winning reams, The school’s Head Girl for Sports gave a speech on the legendary hockey player, Dhyan Chand.

INTER-SCHOOL PATRIOTIC SINGING COMPETITION HELD AT SCHOOL

 An Inter-school patriotic solo singing and folk group song singing competition was held here at school auditorium on 16 Aug. GGIC Lansdowne and GIC Jaiharikhal participated in the competition. The programme started with the singing of a beautiful song by Mr. Prashant Thapa, music teacher of the host school. After which, students of other school sang various songs and made the whole atmosphere patriotic and melodious.

Results declared as under :-

  1. Patriotic Singing Solo (Junior) – Ist – Harshwardhan Vashisth (APS Lansdowne)
  2. Patriotic Singing Solo (Senior) – Ist – Akash Kumar (APS Lansdowne), IInd – Bhpendra (GIC Jahrikhal) & IIIrd –  (GGIC Lansdowne)
  3. Group Singing Folk (Senior) – Ist – APS Lansdowne, IInd – GGIC Lansdowne & IIIrd – GIC Jaiharikhal

The judges of the competition were Mrs. Priyadarshini Roy, Mr Prem Thapa & Mr Rajeev Sharma.

In the last Principal Dr. Ashok Kumar proposed a vote of thanks to all the guests participants and their teachers.

 

 70th Independence Day Celebration

Freedom in the Mind, Faith in the words …Pride in our souls …

Independence was celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect at APS Lansdowne. The ceremony started at 9 AM in the school auditorium with large crowd of parents, guests and students.

Hon’ble Chairman Brig Indrajit Chatterjee, the Chief Guest, unfurled the tricolor flag and all in unison sang the National Anthem and expressed the joy of our freedom.

The program was full of patriotic fervor. Students shared their views on the significance of the day trough poems and speeches. The students of Choir group sang the Patriotic song that awakened everyone’s feelings towards our Mother Land. The Chief Guest of the function said “he is happy to notice that today’s students think about the freedom and it is necessary to inculcate within us.

The programme concluded up with the Vote of thanks by Principal Dr. Ashok Kumar. At the end, sweets were distributed to the students.

Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity in diversity.

STUDENTS AND TEACHERS PRACTICED YOGA

Swami Yogi Rajneesh Ji, founder of Om Aarogya Mandir Trust Haridwar, visited the school and conducted a yoga session, attended by all students and the staff members. He also guided the students on concentration and mediation practices to be physically fit and mentally healthy. He discussed and demonstrated some ways and dimensions of different types of pranayama. He reckoned many benefits of early rising and practicing yoga and pointed how it helps students to memorize something and understand a concept and its context.

VIJAY DIVAS : TRIBUTE TO KARGIL WAR HEROES

Indian soldiers showed their bravery from time to time in saving the borders of country. We all are thankful to the soldiers who laid their lives for the cause of nation. The whole nation remembers those great heroes on this occasion and pay their tribute. To observe the day the school staff and students planted trees in premises with a great enthusiasm and took oath to nurture and develop them.

A FELICITATION PROGRAM FOR Ms. ANUKRITI GUSAIN

A FELICITATION PROGRAM was organized for our proud alumnae Ms. ANUKRITI GUSAIN, Bride of the world, India 2013, Finalist Femina Miss India 2017 & Miss India Grand International 2017, on 22 July at school Auditorium. In the morning she participated in plantation program jointly organized by Forest department and APS Lansdowne. On reaching school she was given a worm welcome by management, staff and students, thereafter some cultural activities conducted. It was followed by an interactive session with Anukriti.

Later a documentary on her journey at APS Lansdowne displayed, it was really praised and  appreciated by Anukriti Gusain. School wishes her all the best for the future endeavours.

School organized a felicitation program for Class-X and class-XII Board class students on July 12, 2017 in school Auditorium. Hon’ble Chairman Brig Indrajit Chatterjee was the Chief Guest of the program. Following students were awarded by Chairman Sir for their academic excellence.

IMAGE BUILDING COUNSELING SESSION

An Image building counseling session was held in Army Public School Lansdowne on 6th & 7th July for students and teachers by the Image consultant Mrs Rupam Sharma. She is a corporate trainer. She told students about the benefits of having positive attitude in live and how it helps in building a good image. The session was on the image building, dressing sense and body language. Teachers and students were benefitted with the session and expressed their wish to have such sessions in future also. Principal Dr. Ashok Kumar welcomed Mrs Rupam and expressed his gratitude.

“WOW WEDNESDAY CELEBRATION” (28 JUN 2017)

CAREER COUNSELLING

Choosing a career is not a serious affair until 12th grade. However, once you are done with 12th, it is necessary to choose a definite career and decide a career goal. Keeping this in mind a career counseling session was scheduled for students of senior classes by a renowned and experienced educationist, career consultant and a qualified trainer Mr. SP Verma. It was attended by a large number of parents also. Mr. Verma resolved the queries put forwarded by students and their parents. He also said, building the motivational level of a student is necessary for long term success.  It was an enlightening session with the students, teachers and parents.

“WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY”

 An awareness drive was initiated in the school to highlight and raise awareness among students, staff and community. Raising effective awareness about tobacco and its menace was done through slogan writing, poster making and followed by an awareness rally. Students applied their knowledge observation and creativity to express and excel.

A successful step initiated and executed by our students in the morning assembly. Program was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chairman Sir Brigadier Indrajit Chatterjee and Mrs. Kasturi Chatterjee, followed by speeches and awareness rally around the town. The initiative was praised and appreciated by all.

“WOW WEDNESDAY CELEBRATION” (24 MAY 2017)

“Wow Wednesday celebration” is a regular part of Co-curricular activities being held in school. On  24 May, English play “The Hotel Transylvania” beautifully acted by class – VI students. After that house-wise Hindi devotional song singing competition held.

The programs applauded and praised by the parents and audience.
